Pregnancy can be a scary, difficult time all while being the most amazing part of your life at the same time.
Strange how it can span both ends of the spectrum, isn't it? It can also be a time to self-indulge, but let's face it, after delivery, you'll wish you hadn't.
Most mommies want to stay trim while pregnant.
Of course, self-indulging during pregnancy isn't just about you.
It is about the baby too.
What you put in your mouth and the amount of activity you do affects the baby just as it does you.
There are some times you can give in and splurge, but keep it minimal.
Now, let's talk about what you should and should not do while pregnant.
Eat Healthy Every pregnant woman knows she should eat healthy.
Eating lots of greens and other veggies will help get the nutrients you need, but be sure not to skimp on the protein.
Remember, if you don't get the nutrients the baby needs, she will take it from you leaving your body low on some nutrients.
You'll also need to keep an eye on your fluid intake.
Don't get caught up in day-to-day life and become dehydrated.
This is one of the worst things you could do.
Microwave Foods One of the first things you should know is to stay away from microwaved foods.
Why? Microwave ovens alter the components in foods and thus 'kills' a lot of the good stuff.
Whether you are pregnant or not, you need all the good stuff from food you can get.
I once heard a story about a man who planted two different flowers in two different pots.
He watered one pot with regular water and the other pot with water that had been heated in the microwave, then cooled.
The flower that had been watered with microwaved water died while the other lived.
Try this experiment yourself and see what happens.
Aluminum Foil Aluminum foil is another thing to steer clear of whether your pregnant or not.
Heating or cooking foods using aluminum foil allows the aluminum to get into the foods you are going to eat.
This same aluminum is being studied to find out if it truly is a cause of Alzheimer's Disease.
While many major corporations, including the Aluminum Association, states there is no cause for alarm, could it just be a cover? Staying Trim Yes.
You should exercise while pregnant.
Of course, there will be days that you won't feel like it or there will just be too many things to get done before the baby arrives and you shouldn't wear yourself too thin.
But, on the days you feel like you could do even just a little exercise - get moving! Here are a few exercises to do to help you stay trim while pregnant: walk - be sure to walk where there is little chance of falling and wear supportive shoes.
dancing - dance all you want, but stay away from jerky, bouncy moves.
swimming - this type of exercise allows you to take the weight off your feet for a while (very nice).
DVDs - there are many different DVDs for pregnant women to use you'll just need to find the one that fits your personality best.
Thousands of women stay trim while pregnant and you can too.
