There are many places to see in Penang, one of the most interesting one would be the Penang National Park. On April 2003, the Penang National Park (Taman Negara Pulau Pinang) was declared a national park. It lies in the northwest corner of Penang Island, boasting a very rich nature reserve and displaying a very extensive biodiversity.

Flora and fauna are its best in the park. Endangered and rare species of plants and animals can be seen freely lurking around the hilly and densely forested area. Trails are set up around the area so everybody are given fair opportunities to lay eyes on the different beauty of life hidden in there.

There are eight beaches in the park, as well. These are open to people for relaxation but are well guarded by park officials and volunteers from possible human destructions. These beaches also serve as grounds for marine and coastal studies.

Occupying a total land area of 1,266 hectares, it is the smallest national park in the world. But it serves as a wonder of Penang – and Malaysia – as it is a continuously developing proof of the country's rich and wonderful heritage. Jungle trekkers, nature lovers and even photographers will certainly love the place.

If New York has the Brooklyn Bridge and San Francisco has the Golden Gate Bridge, Penang has the Penang Bridge. A toll viaduct linking Gelugor and Seberang Prai, it is deemed as one of the most famous and fascinating architectural piece in the country.

The Penang Bridge is a dual carriageway bridge which was designed by Chin Fung Kee, a well known civil engineer and a local of Penang. The design of the bridge was somehow patterned to the Golden Gate Bridge because of the use of cable-stayed concrete girders. It extends to a length of 13.5 km – making it the longest in Asia and third in the world – and stands 8.4 km above the water. It has lights affixed to it which produces probably one of the best night views in town. Construction was completed on 1985, and since then, the Penang Bridge has become an indispensable part of Malaysia's culture.

On the same year as well, the Penang Bridge has become the venue to the annual Penang Bridge International Marathon. It is organized by the Penang Municipal Council, Malaysian Highway Authority and other organizations.
