Hope you had a spectacular holiday and a Happy New Year!!

I had a wonderful holiday of being unplugged, doing some skiing with my family, and some serious R&R! I feel refreshed and ready to jump start the new year! I hope you do too!

Let's make 2012 a year that we'll look back and celebrate! I'd like all of you to be able to achieve great personal fulfillment and professional success! A hard nut to crack for some, but that is my wish for you.

Let's start off with a bang and set a compass for the direction for the year!

Clarity always brings focus. And what you focus on expands! Sounds simple, yes?

It's simple, but not always easy. But it's definitely easier when you have set yourself up for success from the start.

We all get off track from time-to-time, but when we have a direction and are clear on where we're going, it's easier to regroup and get back on-track.

Here are 3 ways you make this year your best year yet:

1.Celebrate Your Success from 2011!

One thing we don't do enough is to celebrate success and learn from where we've been. Everyone is moving full speed ahead with our nose to the grindstone but our biggest insights and greatest learnings are from reflection of where we've been.

So get some "unplugged time" and mindmap or journal. Here are some questions to get you started:
  • What do you want to FOCUS on for 2012? Is there a theme or word that best describes this?
  • What were your successes (big and small)? Come up with at least 20-50 in all areas of your life! We are so quick to move on to the next thing, we sometimes forget about all that's been accomplished.
  • What didn't go well? What did you learn? What would you have done differently next time?
  • What are you most proud of?
  • Who was your greatest supporter? Who did you coach or mentor?
  • How did you leverage your time, your team, your strengths, and systems?
  • How did you expand your personal and professional networking?
  • What opportunities did you take (or make!)?
  • What strategic direction did you most influence?
  • How did you make a difference in the world?

2. Get a Big Vision!
What is your big vision for the future? Think about something really big that you want to accomplish and what it would look like. What do you want to have more of in your life?

Don't get attached to "reality" at this stage but allow yourself to unleash your creativity and think of the possibilities. By letting go of the "how is this even possible", you allow yourself to think BIGGER without limiting your thinking.

Thinking big at this stage will allow you to act bold later!

Use a mindmap or write out 3 big focus areas for the future and what each would look like! Be bold and write quickly!

3. Envision The Upcoming Year

When you can see clearly where you are going, you more likely end up there!

Here are a few questions to get you started thinking about where you want to go in 2012:
  • What do you want to FOCUS on for 2012? Is there a theme or word that best describes this?
  • What do you want your greatest success to be? What does success look like?
  • What/Who will you influence?
  • What strength will you invest in?
  • What will you do differently to free up your time and energy?
  • What system/process will you implement that will automate things?
  • What support will you put in place to help you?
  • How will you engage, celebrate, and support your organization, team, and family?
  • What are you willing to change in yourself or your environment?
  • What will you do to bring more joy and fun in your life?
  • What will you say "no" to? What boundaries do you need to make?
  • What opportunity is "on-the-table" that you will say "yes" to?
  • What opportunity will you create for yourself?
  • Who do you want to add to your personal and professional network?
  • How will you provide value to others? How will build on your Personal Brand?
  • What strategy will you think big about that will impact and influence your direction?
  • How will you make a difference in the world?

Once you have taken a look back at your success, have a big picture of where you're going, and then envisioned what the upcoming year will look like, now what?? Time to think about mapping out a plan and some specific measurable goals for the year making sure you end up where you want!
Let me know how it goes! This is the year to think bigger and act bolder! Go for it!
