How to Make a Titanic Cutout

104 21
    • 1). Draw an outline of Titanic onto a piece of paper. Note all of the windows, railings, smoke stacks and masts. If you cannot draw the ship, use the Titanic images from National Geographic or other sources as a guide.

    • 2). Place the drawing of the ship onto a piece of transfer paper. The transfer paper should be dark side down as the dark substance is what transfers onto the paper of your final product. Clip your three pieces of paper (drawing, transfer paper and final piece of paper) together to prevent movement during the tracing process. Trace the outline of the drawing. When you lift the paper, you should see the outline on your final piece of paper.

    • 3). Cut out the ship. Use scissors for the blunt ends and sides, and a hobby knife for the smaller, hard-to-reach parts. When using a hobby knife, hold the paper taut with your fingers and firmly push against the cutting surface. Poke the paper with the sharp end of the knife and drag is along the line. Move the paper so you are always pulling the knife toward you, providing the most control.

    • 4). Cut out additional aspects of the ship, such as the windows or railings, from another piece of paper and paste them onto the original outline for a 3-D look. Making the cutout 3-D is optional if you have confidence in your cutting abilities.
