How to Learn Macramé
- 1). Tie the middle of the purple and blue cords to the ring. This will leave two cords of each color dangling down.
- 2). Lay the ring and cords on a flat surface.
- 3). Position the two blue cords on the outside and the purple in the middle.
- 4). Take the left blue cord and fold it "L"-shaped over the purple cords.
- 5). Take the right blue cord and make a reverse "L" shape over the purple cords. Interlock the two blue cords, placing one of the blue cords on top and one blue cord on the bottom of the purple cords.
- 6). Finish the square knot by bringing the right cord across the purple cords and then bringing it over the left. The left goes over the right cord and behind the purple cords. This time the cords rest on top. You will see a two-part knot using the blue cord with a loop above and a loop below.
- 7). Tighten the knot by pulling on both ends gently.
- 1). Make a basic knot, or overhand knot, in a section of rope. Do not tighten the knot.
- 2). Use the right cord to make a loop. Slip the end of the cord through the overhand knot.
- 3). Hold the ends in your left hand and pull the loop with your right. Tighten the knot evenly.
