Weatherford, Texas is located in the prairies and lake region, less than 30 minutes west of downtown Ft. Worth. The Trinity River feeds into the lake, which dips down to depths of about 40 feet. Visitors can fish from the shoreline or rent fishing boats at the marina. Visitors can also take in the sights by car or motorcycle on a winding scenic road around the lake.

tpwd.state.tx.us - Mineral Wells Trailway, located very close to downtown Weatherford, is a 20-mile trail for equestrians, hikers and cyclists alike. The trail winds over the Brazos River, past Mineral Wells Lake and through the countryside, which is especially scenic during the springtime wildflower-blooming period. In the adjacent Mineral Wells State Park, tourists can participate in many outdoor activities, such as boating, rock climbing and hiking.

Antique shops and small restaurants line the streets surrounding the square offering visitors a wealth of shopping and dining options.
