How to Make a Bridal Garter
- 1). Measure your thigh at the height that you will be wearing your garter.
- 2). Fold your fabric strip in half. Make sure you fold length-wise and with the wrong side facing out.
- 3). Sew the edge and turn the tube of fabric right side out.
- 4). Center the seam in the back and iron it flat. The seam will be against your leg now and no one will see it.
- 5). Sew the lace onto the bottom edge.
- 6). Insert the elastic into the fabric tube. Use a safety pin, attached to the end of the elastic, if it won't come through.
- 7). Put the garter around your leg and decide on a comfortable length for the elastic. Trim the elastic.
- 8). Sew the elastic together and then finish the circle by sewing the ends of the fabric and lace together.
- 9). Embellish your garter, if you so choose. Sew or hot glue on charms, beads, flowers, bows, or whatever you want.
