How Rock N" Roll Can Help Your Golf Game!
When I first started playing, I was a drummer, and I still enjoy playing on the odd occasion, but since I got thrust into the world of being the singer in the band in which I was playing, I really enjoy that, much more.
By the way there is a link to an original song of mine at the end of this article, I hope you like it: So what on earth has this got to do with playing better golf? Well you all know what it's like when you tap your toes to a good song, you are just reacting to the beat, it's something that most of us do naturally, you don't have to make any special decisions.
It just happens, like writing your signature, you don't think about it you just do it.
And that's the heart of a good drummer, it's getting on the beat and staying there, and just knowing that you are right on it..
The band that you play with need it, the drums and the base player are the heart, the core of holding the song or tune on track, and being consistent in the tempo throughout.
When I started playing drums, I used a metronome to make sure that I was on the beat, and let me tell you it's a hard thing to do, it takes work.
And it's this in built metronome that most of us have that will help you play better golf, you just have to listen to it.
But if your timing is off, or you just want to improve, then I highly recommend buying a metronome, (you can get one for under $30) and use it when you are practicing any part of your game.
This beat can be translated to your putting, chipping and on through your full swing, there is always a tempo and timing to it that enables us to get the ball on the center of the club face at impact.
So here's a putting drill to get you started: Place the metronome next to where you are putting, get one that emits a sound, and set it to a pace that's as close to your normal putting stroke.
One click on the way back, and the next click at the completion of the forward swing.
The chances are that you will have to adjust the timing to fit your swing to get it exactly right.
But once you know the timing that suits your putting stroke, the one that enables you to make a back and forward swing so that you feel comfortable holding the finished position, then you can go back to that specific setting, to make sure you are on time, every time! Then start using your metronome in your chipping and putting, you will see positive results.
And then take it to the driver and you will start swing more consistently and hitting the ball out of the center of the club-face! "Hail Hail Rock n' Roll"
