What Is a Wind Deflector?
- Wind deflectors are small, transparent pieces of strong plastic that are attached to the top of the car doors. They can be attached to the top of the window frame using an adhesive or clipped to the inside of the frame.
- With wind deflectors, passengers can have the windows down to keep the car cooler. This allows stale air to escape the car, which means the air-conditioning and heating features of the vehicle can operate to full potential. The deflectors also reduce the noise that usually occurs when windows are down.
- Some wind deflectors are made for specific car makes and models. Convertible cars without window frames are unable to use the side deflectors, but a different style of deflector can be mounted behind the headrests of the seats.
