• Consider a theme for a high-end gala. Themes help direct other event decisions from venue choice to decorations to menu options. Some themes to consider include a black and white theme that encourages guests to dress in black and white clothes and incorporate black and white decorations into the venue. A geographical destination theme, such as a Paris theme or African safari theme can create an international and sophisticated flair.
  
  

Decorations

• High end gala event decorations can include a variety of different visual elements. Use table linens in theme colors to help tie in the color scheme. Include fresh flower arrangements as centerpieces. Use technology to create image slide shows or to show pictures of the person or event the gala is celebrating. Slide shows can be shown on laptop screens, flat screen televisions or projected on a wall or screen.
  
  

Food

• A high-end gala can include a full sit-down dinner or can simply include a variety of appetizers and cocktails. The time of the event, venue and budget are all contributing factors that help determine if you will serve a full dinner or just appetizers. Use the theme of the event to dictate menu items. If you are hosting a high-end gala with an ocean theme, serve a series of sea food items such as jumbo shrimp, Alaskan snow crab claws or oysters. If you are serving a full dinner, consider including an ocean themed item in every course, including a shell shaped chocolate on the dessert plate.
  
  

Favors

• Send guests of the high-end gala home with a favor to remember the event by. A small truffle box in the color scheme of the event can be filled with a chocolate truffle and tied with a satin bow. Add the logo or name of the gala sponsor to the box. Use the theme of the event to dictate favor ideas. If you have chosen an art theme for the event, give guests a small tote filled with paints, brushes and a small canvas. You could also give each guest a book about art appreciation. Promotional material from the gala sponsor is also an acceptable favor to give to guests, as long as the promotional item is useful and of high quality.
