October Princess Party

Halloween is quickly approaching and kids everywhere are looking for the perfect Halloween costume.  If your child has a birthday in October, don't let the excitement of Halloween overshadow her special day.  Instead, turn her birthday party into a princess dress-up themed-party and you will have an occasion to be remembered.

Princess costumes are readily available almost everywhere this time of year.  In addition to online costume supply stores, regular grocery and department stores begin stocking costumes early.  Planning a dress up princess party is a creative idea that will be easy to implement since guests will already be prepared with their Halloween costumes.

Princess costumes do not have to be bought at a store.  Dance costumes work well as a princess outfit, as do special occasion dresses.  It is also very easy to make a princess skirt .

To inspire creativity, you could give your guests a princess theme and instruct them to dress in a costume that represents that theme.  For example, guests could dress up as a Halloween princess, an orange princess or autumn princess.

Instruct the guest to arrive in costume and begin with a walk down the "princess model runway", which could be any area sectioned off with streamers to form a walkway.  Be sure to point out all of the magnificent things about your guest's costume, hair or jewelry.

Guests can also be pampered as they get their hair fixed or nails painted.  Get some help from teens or other mothers with this activity.  Little girls will feel grown-up as they get their new princess look.

A model shoot might be fun for some guests and the photos would be perfect on the thank-you cards.  Very young guests might not enjoy posing for pictures, and candid shots would be an ideal alternative.  Don't forget to snap a group shot of all the princesses.

Let the guests make a frame with foam and insert their princess picture.  Frames can be decorated with stickers, markers, flowers or rhinestones.

Finish the party activities with a princess freeze dance, princess karaoke songs or princess musical chairs.

When you create the princess party theme around Halloween and dress-up, you will have a unique party the girls will remember throughout the year.
