- 1). Shut down any computers that you are not using in your home except for the computer that you are downloading with. Since Road Runner Light only downloads at 768 kbs, other computers running on a network will drain your Internet connectivity.
- 2). Shut down all programs on your computer before you start your download. If you have music library software, email programs, or anything else running while you are downloading, your download speed will suffer. This is because the CPU will be using it's resources to run other programs instead of focusing on the download in progress.
- 3). Run a software update on your computer to ensure you have the latest firmware on your computer. Click on the "Start" menu and select "Control Panel" from the options given. Select "Windows Update" and wait for the software to update you computer. Time Warner will automatically flash your modem to give you the latest firmware for any hardware they provide.
- 4). Plug your computer directly into your cable modem. Any wireless network can have interference working against it. Plug your computer directly to the Internet to get a better download speed. Since you're running Road Runner Light, all 768 kps will be working on your computer without any interference.
