Waking up is a problem for many people.
These are more tips on how to wake up efficiently and feel focused and refreshed every morning.
The many problems people go through trying to wake up 1.
People think that you need a "set" amount of sleep time 8 hours of sleep is the perfect amount of time.
False.
Does it not make sense that the amount of sleep you require varies from day to day? Would you not need more sleep if you had an intense workout? What if your Saturday was quite relaxed and made sure not to eat too much during dinner? There are many factors to consider when determining the amount of sleep you need.
Therefore, the thing to do is only go to bed when you're tired.
If you take more than 10 minutes to fall asleep, you are just wasting your time.
2.
Snooze If only they didn't invent this feature.
This problem shows even a bigger problem.
Your gut instinct is to shut up the alarm but still let it wake you in the morning.
Instead, set up two alarms.
One that doesn't have a terrible screech and one that does.
Have the softer one next to your bed, while the other is set across the room where you actually have to get up.
Set the loud one 1 minute after the soft one because it'll let your body prepare for the loud buzzer by letting it wake up to the more "soothing" one.
The far away one will make you move in the morning, which is an added benefit of this method.
3.
Gut reactions Our gut reactions in the morning should not be to hit the snooze and should definitely not be to talk yourself into sleeping 10 more minutes! Do not let your mind start thinking.
Immediately stand up and stretch.
Open your eyes.
Too likely to hit the snooze button? Start experimenting.
Slowly train yourself.
For the first 5 days, wake up violently.
When you hear that alarm get yourself to shake parts of your body.
Pretend like you're having a spasm.
It'll jolt your system.
For the next 3 days, jump out of bed.
This one is quite fun because your body is forced to be alert, and your legs have to react like cat feet.
Doing silly things like this will train your mind, and your body will always be ready and alert in the morning.
4.
Practice I covered this in my previous articles, but I'll reiterate them again here because its that important.
We need to train our subconscious mind to work properly because no amount of self talk will work.
Though you might have a will of steel, one day you're gonna break.
5 am is just a terrible time for self talk.
I bypass this by spending time in the day when I'm fully conscious to practice my waking.
"Your Guide to Perfect Sleep" has more detailed information on the practice.
5.
Eat an apple! Better than caffeine and much healthier in the morning.
Studies show that apples are the best morning foods because they have the same effects as caffeine and are of course better for you.
