Wedding Photographers - How to Choose the Right One
There are a few things to keep in mind when selecting the photographer that will make the process much easier and less time consuming.
After the wedding, the cake will be gone, the flowers disappear, but the photos and memories will last a lifetime.
Choosing the wrong photographer can be the biggest mistake when planning a wedding.
There are a few things to consider when choosing the right photographer for your wedding such as experience, professionalism, portfolio, personality, and price.
Experience has to be one of the most important factors.
An experienced wedding photographer can pay for itself many times.
You will get more quality photos and more photos that capture the moment and the feeling at that moment.
Having a new photographer will probably not yield those results and the wedding surely cannot be done over to take new pictures.
It is a one shot deal.
Professionalism is also important.
Does the photographer have professional equipment? A photographer is only as good as their equipment.
If they have low end equipment they be assured that there will be low end photos as well.
Will they be bringing backup equipment in case of an emergency? If something happens to their equipment it is impossible to stop the wedding because of the photographer.
If they have backup equipment that will eliminate those issues.
How will they dress at the wedding? If everyone at the wedding is wearing a tux you don't want the photographer to show up in jeans, right? Hopefully the photographer will be professional enough to know this and wear the appropriate attire to the wedding.
Portfolio, that is where it is all at.
If the pictures are not good then don't worry about the rest of these tips.
Always check a lot of photos including other photographers photos.
Then you will have a comparison base when looking at photos.
Also, look at the photographers proof book.
This will let you see all of the pictures taken at the wedding including the bad ones.
If they don't want to show you the proof book then don't wast your time on them.
The photographer needs to blend into the background at the wedding.
They will also be interacting with guests.
This makes their personality very important because we don't want any tension between the photographer and guests.
If they have a good sense of humor and can mingle with the guests and still accomplish their job then it will go smooth.
Price is always important but always remember what I stated at the beginning of this article.
Do you want photos of the bride and groom? Do you want a photo of the wedding cake? Guests? If you want the best photos then sometimes you have to pay for the best.
If you are trying to stay within a budget then try to cut in other areas besides the photography area.
If you choose the right photographer then your photos and memories will last a lifetime.
