Removal of prostate gland is widely practiced to cure this form of cancer in elementary stage, though there are many alternative treatment methods available these days.
When this disease advances to the advanced stage, apart from prostate gland, it also affects the bones and lymph nodes.
Though surgery is a prevalent treatment, there are other alternative prostate cancer treatments.
Cryotherapy and Chemotherapy are two such methods.
Cryotherapy: Cryotherapy is a method of treatment that is used to treat prostate cancer in its early stages.
In this treatment, the cancer cells are made to freeze and killed.
Freezing the cancer cells is done by injecting a freezing liquid like liquid nitrogen, argon into the prostate gland.
Freezing technique though complicated had a good success rate.
This method of freezing was used in the past to cure stomach ulcer.
Chemotherapy: In chemotherapy, anti-cancer drugs are injected directly into the blood stream.
Sometimes these drugs are taken orally too.
These drugs taken, mix through the blood, spread through the body and hence cure the prostate cancer.
Usually this procedure contains a combination of different drugs.
Sometimes pain killers are mixed with this combination of drugs too.
