Complete DSL Installation Instructions
- 1). Check with your DSL service provider to make sure your account is active. Some providers send the DSL modem or router before the account activation date, so make sure your service is active before you begin installation.
- 2). Connect phone filters to any telephone device other than the DSL modem or router. Filters are the small plastic devices with a phone jack on one end and a phone plug on the other. Plug the device into the jack and plug the filter into the wall.
- 3). Plug the modem or router in and wait as the power light flashes, then stays solid. This may take up to three or four seconds.
- 4). Insert one end of a phone cord into the "WAN" or "Line" input on the modem or router. Some models may say "Phone" or have an icon of a telephone. Insert the other end of the phone line into a telephone jack in the wall.
- 5). Attach one end of an Ethernet cable or USB cable (depending on your make and model) into the DSL modem or router. Insert the other end into your computer. You should see a light blink on the modem, showing the connection has been made. This light should continue to blink as data is transferred.
- 6). Open any web browser on your computer. The first time you plug in your DSL modem or router you'll automatically be connected to your service provider's website to enter your log in information. Your account information was provided to you by your provider.
