The SBA 8(a) Business Development Program helps small disadvantaged businesses compete in the American economy and access the federal procurement market. The federal procurement market is the federal government's purchasing of goods, services, and property for its use. The eligibility for the program includes poof of economic or social disadvantage.

The SBA also provides counseling, through its partners like SCORE, to help businesses apply for the 8(a) program.
