How to Make Sterling Silver Bails
- 1). Cut a 4-inch piece of wire using the wire cutters.
- 2). Hold one end of the wire with the pliers and bend it around into a small loop at the top. This will be the loop the chain goes through when the bail is finished.
- 3). Thread the other end of the wire into the bead hole and bring it through so that the end without the loop sticks up about 1 inch past the loop end when bent. Bend both ends upward once they are the correct length so the bead is secure on the wire.
- 4). Take the end of the wire without the loop with the pliers and wrap it around the wire directly under the loop. Wrap it around the wire two or three times until it is coiled like a spring. This completes the bail and finishes the edges.
- 5). Thread the bail and bead onto a necklace. The bail will hang down about 1 inch when it's finished.
