• Travel + Leisure magazine named the Prescott Hotel in San Francisco one of the 500 best hotels in the world. It also received recognition from the EPA Green Lodging Program. The downtown boutique hotel is on the higher end of pricing, but offers guests a number of amenities. With a Kimpton InTouch membership, Wi-Fi is free across the hotel. Orchard Garden Hotel

• The Orchard Garden hotel is part of San Francisco's first-generation green hotels. Built under the national "green" standards from the U.S. Green Building Council, the rooms are eco-friendly and decorated with natural colors and tones. The key card energy control system allows you to enter the rooms. The rooms include Wi-Fi access, high-definition LCD television, iPod docking station, honor bar, telephone lines and organic bath products in the en-suite bathrooms. The Chancellor Hotel

• The 137-room Chancellor Hotel, located on Union Square, dates back to 1914. The rooms, refurbished in 2007, feature contemporary decor and eco-friendly appliances.
