If your looking into buying bahama shutters than you are probably wondering which ones are going to be right for you home.
This can be answered in a few different ways.
You can take the approach of going out and buying the absolute top of the line no matter the cost.
Not many of us can do this, especially in this economy.
You can also take the smarter option and do a little research first.
Nobody wants to pay 800 dollars for a product when the product they need only costs 300.
It's not going to be any different with bahama shutters.
There are shutters out there that will cost as much as 800 per shutter and sometimes more.
That 800 dollar cost is for the absolute top of the line shutter though.
When it comes to bahama shutters you have 3 options: Aluminum Bahama Shutters These shutters are the best of the best.
They carry the highest storm rating of any other shutter on the market today.
You will not find a stronger or more durable shutter.
With these top of the line shutters you can also throw in many upgrades.
You will have options to motorize them and even have them on timers and sun sensors.
Vinyl Bahama Shutters These shutters are a little more cost efficient but not by much.
There's usually two reasons why someone would choose this shutter over the aluminum ones.
Price is the first and most obvious reason.
The other reason is the storm rating of the shutter.
While the rating on these shutters is still very high its not quite as high as the aluminum ones.
If your not in a hurricane zone but on the outer edges than these will work very well for you.
Wood Bahama Shutters These are going to be the most common bahama shutters out there.
When you go to the Bahamas and the Caribbean you will almost always see the wood shutters and not the vinyl or aluminum.
The reason being is almost always cost.
The wood shutters are by far the most affordable.
This doesn't mean they wont stand up in a hurricane though.
Depending on the manufacturer and the wood being used these are still very strong and tough shutters.
The other benefit to wood shutters is you can have any color that you want on them.
The other two types of shutters come in 3-4 colors at the most.
