How to Patch a Tear in a Canvas Awning
- 1). Make a solution of 6 oz. white vinegar and 6 oz. distilled water in a glass bowl.
- 2). Pour the mixture into a spray bottle.
- 3). Moisten a clean cloth with distilled water. Rub the visible side of the canvas awning around the outside of the tear. Spray the area around the tear with the solution in the spray bottle. Let the awning dry.
- 4). Remove 1 to 2 inches of the sticker backing from one end of the awning patch.
- 5). Smooth down the visible side of the awning on both sides of the tear with your fingers.
- 6). Place the exposed end of the awning patch 1 inch above the tear on the visible side of the awning. Push the awning patch onto the tear while pulling off the sticker backing with your fingers.
- 7). Smooth the awning patch over the tear with your fingers. Dispose of the sticker backing in the trash.
