Aurangabad, regarded as the tourism capital of Maharashtra, is one of the most visited cities in India and is also one of fastest growing cities of the world. This city is a famous tourist hub of India and boasts of two of the UNESCO world heritage sites which are Ajanta and Ellora caves. Besides them, there are numerous other places to visit in Aurangabad that speaks volume of the rich cultural heritage of this city.

There are places aplenty to visit in Aurangabad which is why a large number of tourists- national as well as international- flock to this city to witness the amazing architectural marvels; some of them made in as early as 2nd century BC while some constructed only a few centuries ago. Ajanta and Ellora caves: these caves need no introduction as these are few of the most remarkable historic tourist attractions present in India. These caves are known for their cave monuments inscribed on rocks. The Ajanta caves are as old as 2nd century BC while the Ellora caves are estimated to be built between the 5th and 10 the century. The most amazing thing about these caves is that they are completely hand built using tools like chisel and hammer. There are in total 31 and 34 cave monuments that one could see when they would visit Ajanta and Ellora caves respectively.

Bibi ka Maqbara: built on the designs of Taj Mahal of Agra, Bibi ka Maqbara is therefore called as the mini Taj of the Deccan and deservingly is one of the must-see places to visit in Aurangabad. This Maqbara is the burial place of Rabia-ud Durrani, wife of the famous Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. This maqbara is situated amidst a spacious Mughal garden with fountains, axial ponds, water channels, pavilions and broad pathways to enhance its beauty. There is also a small archaeological museum located behind the maqbara for the tourists.

Panchakki: it is actually a very old water mill housed in the complex of the Dargah of Baba Shah Musafir. It is famous for its subversive water channel whose source is about 8 kms away in the mountains. A mosque is also structured within the complex whose beauty gets magnified immensely by an array of water fountains that look like dancing to the tunes. It is quite a famous picnic spot for families.

Gates of Aurangabad: there are a total of 52 gates present in Aurangabad with each one of them have their own fare share of history attached to them. This city is also popularly called as City of Gates which can be testified easily when you roam around the city and get to see the gates that are present there.

Salim Ali Lake and Bird Sanctuary, Himayat Baugh Aurangabad, Quila-e-Ark, Naukhanda Palace, Shahganj Masjid, Sunehri Mahal and Pir Ismail Mausoleum are some of the other prominent places to visit in Aurangabad.
