    • 1). Decide where you want to mount your Sun tachometer. This should be in an area that you'll be able to see while driving, without obstructing your view of the road or other vehicle components.

    • 2). Hold the base plate of the tachometer in the spot where you plan to mount it. Mark the screw holes with a pencil. Drill pilot holes for guiding the screws into place. Put the tachometer intot place and secure it with the supplied screws.

    • 3). Connect the black wire on the back of the tachometer to a grounding point. This ground point could be a clean, unpainted portion of the chassis or the negative battery terminal. You might have to route the wire through the dashboard, depending on the makeup of your vehicle. Secure the wires together with a ring terminal.

    • 4). Consult your vehicle's owner's manual to determine the section of your vehicle's fuse box that's energized only when the key is in the "on" position. Attach the red wire of the tachometer to this fuse box section.

    • 5). Attach the tachometer's white wire to the vehicle's instrument panel lighting circuit. This is located in the fuse box. Consult your vehicle's owner's manual for the exact location. Connect the white wire to the circuit with a splice connector.

    • 6). Take the green wire from the tachometer and attach it to the vehicle's ignition system. Ignition systems vary from vehicle models and engine styles, so consult your vehicle's owner's manual to determine where it is.
