Are you wondering when is the best time of year to visit the Azores Islands? If you are planning a tip to these verdant islands located far out in the Atlantic Ocean that is a great question to consider.
Accessibility is not a big issue at all in planning a trip.
The islands are accessible all year round by plane or by boat.
Flying to the Azores is the easiest, and certainly the most practical and affordable, option.
Due to the distance, there are no ferries to this Archipelago but many people sail there and there are some cruise ships that stop there as a port of call for Atlantic crossings.
A cruise is a way to catch a small glimpse of the Azores, but to really get the full experience it is best to spend at a least a week there.
No matter time of year you want to go, flying is the most realistic option.
There are a few factors that you might be considering when planning an Azores vacation.
The weather is a prime concern for most travellers.
And price is usually one of the next concerns.
A third consideration is the timing of the high season for tourism.
The high season for tourism in the Acores is when the weather is best.
So this means that prices are higher then too.
I should say that the islands are not a massive tourist destination overrun by tourists.
So if you are concerned about avoiding crowds of tourists as you enjoy your vacation, don't be! No matter what time of year you go, you won't be fighting crowds of tourists as you explore the islands.
The Azores Islands are like an undiscovered gem The weather is best from May through to September.
These are the warmest, sunniest months.
July and August are the best overall.
And that is when there is the most people going to the Acores.
December is also a very highly travelled month as former Azoreans return to visit family for the holidays.
As a result, you will notice that prices are highest in July, August and December The months of May through September are a good time to go if you want to take advantage of inter-island ferries.
Many of these do not operate in the winter months.
If going to the beach and having hot sunny weather is not important to you.
The months of October through April are fine.
I have had many excellent vacations to the Azores in the off season.
There are more rainy and cooler days in the winter months.
