Is Your Child Sleeping? How to Get Your Child to Sleep and Stay in a Deep Sleep!
Are you one of these parents who know what I'm talking about? Do you give in and let your child stay up because; you can't stand the crying, screaming, tantrums or the fighting? I am a mother of 4 children, so I know all about the bedtime tantrums.
It can be such a challenging time because as a parent you have worked, cleaned, cooked, and done just about everything else a super-woman/man would be expected to do in a day, and some more! At the end of the day, and all you want to do is plonk yourself down for a little bit of relaxing 'me' time.
But you can't, because you have your 'precious one' wanting more time with you (or, the tele).
Struggling to get them to bed is exhausting and agitating! When eventually you do, it's difficult to totally relax because you worry he/she is going to walk through the door again.
You love your child more than anything in the world, so there's nothing worse for you to see, than seeing them unsettled or frightened.
I found out many years after my children had grown up, a little known secret to get children to sleep and to help them sleep more deeply, and peacefully.
Then again, I probably wouldn't have believed such an easy, natural method could be so effective, therefore I probably would not have tried it..
The effectiveness of this method has come to me by chance.
I have been teaching meditation and relaxation for many years and because I was constantly asked for a recording of my meditations I created a series of meditation CDs.
To my surprise, friends and clients began telling me how they or, their children were using the CDs to get to sleep.
I am inspired to write this article today because my daughter has just been to visit me after a two week holiday visiting extended family.
As she was walking out the door, she said 'By the way mum, Annie said to thank you because Ally (her 10 year old daughter) goes to bed listening to you every night.
It's the only way she can get to sleep'.
I hear this time and time again, even from mums who have listened to my pregnancy meditation CD, whilst pregnant, use the CD to help their new born to sleep.
Why is this so? Some children when going to bed, get an over whelming sense of abandonment and feelings of 'aloneness'.
They have felt safe and secure all day surrounded by people who care for them and love them.
Feeling abandoned and 'alone' can been frightening, therefore when children are put to bed with a relaxation CD playing in the background, these feelings disappear quickly as they hear a gentle, trusting voice, guiding them to relax.
Feelings of aloneness are quickly replaced with feelings of peace and contentment.
There are many ways to try this, you can ask your friends if they have a meditation or relaxation CD for you to borrow, or you can go to your local library and borrow a CD.
Or, you can buy a good quality meditation CD and build your own library.
