    Breakfast Bistro Patio

    • Create a small patio space to say "hello" to a new day. You can do it easily and inexpensively. Designate a small space to enjoy morning coffee or tea, a bowl of cereal or a breakfast complete with ham and eggs, biscuits or a French croissant. Create a small space that only needs to range from 6 to 10 feet, and form it as a square or rectangle. You can simply lay squares of concrete pavers, or go more formal and lay flagstone slabs. Level the space, and allow the grass to grow and serve as "grout." To make the breakfast bistro space more formal, you can create and define the space and lay flagstone or pavers complete with cement grouting or use gravel. Furnish with metal bistro chairs and tables.

    Herb Garden Patio

    • Another small patio space idea is to create an herb garden. As with the breakfast bistro idea, lay a small space patio by using prefabricated pavers or flagstone. Use terracotta planters to define the perimeter for the herb garden patio. Plant the containers with herbs a traditional and classic theme by using parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme. You can also include favorites to make classic summer beverages like a mojito by including a container planted with mint. The key is to select herbs that you frequently use and enjoy. If your family likes pizza and pasta, grow an herb garden with oregano and basil to use for fresh ingredients. You can also use stone to border the patio with boulders, and plant lavender in between the stones to pick and dry to add to a bath or to create a garden-grown sachet for your dresser drawers.

    Fire Pit Patio

    • A stone fire pit can be a creative addition to your backyard landscape. Use various sizes of stones, ranging from small to medium-size boulders to mortar and create a circle. Inside the circle, place a prefabricated metal circular fire pit or a clay chimera. Surround the fire pit with stones, gravel and crushed rock. Use flagstone to form a circular sitting bench to surround the fire pit for outdoor enjoyment and relaxation.

    Front Yard Patio Space

    • Many patio ideas focus on creating spaces in the backyard. Add a small patio space to enjoy the front of your yard. It can be as simple as a curved space right alongside the walk-up area to your home. You can use gravel or small stones to lay the space. Add a wooden or concrete bench, swing or bistro table and chairs to make a front yard patio that invites and entices neighbors to stop by, sit for a while and share time with you.
