- 1). Place the 3 cardboard tubes together end to end to make one long tube. Tape the tubes together.
- 2). Draw two circles on a sheet of construction paper, using the end of the tube as a template. Draw larger circles around these two, then cut the large circles out.
- 3). Draw several lines between the small circle and the outside edge of the construction paper. Snip along these lines to give the circle a frayed edge. Put glue around the outside edge of one end of the tube. Fit the paper circle over the end, gluing the fringes onto the tube to seal it.
- 4). Roll the aluminum foil into a long sausage shape. Wrap the foil around your fingers to coil it. Take it off your fingers, and pull each end to form a spring shape. Make the spring the same length as your tube. If it is too short after forming it into a spring, make extra springs until they are the same length as the tube.
- 5). Push the springs inside the tube. Pour in 1/2 cup of dry, uncooked rice.
- 6). Prepare the second circle. Draw several lines between the small circle and the outside edge of the construction paper. Snip along these lines to give the circle a frayed edge. Put glue around the outside edge of the remaining open end of the tube. Fit the paper circle over the end. Glue the fringes onto the tube to seal it.
