How to Paint a Ceramic Dragon
- 1). Place your air-dried ceramic dragon onto a flat surface.
- 2). Paint the entire sculpture with ceramics glaze. If you want certain areas of the base to be different colors, such as the face and claws, then apply a different shade of glaze to those areas.
- 3). Allow the glaze to dry completely.
- 4). Fire the dragon sculpture in a kiln until the sculpture has hardened.
- 5). Allow the sculpture to cool completely.
- 6). Apply a darker shade of acrylic paint into the creases and depressed areas of the sculpture using a fine-tipped paintbrush.
- 7). Allow the paint to dry.
- 8). Apply medium-shade acrylic paint onto the entire sculpture.
- 9). Use a cloth to lightly wipe off the paint using small, circular motions. This will layer the colors in a way that will make the scaling, creases and depressions look realistic.
- 10
Allow the paint to dry completely before displaying the dragon.
