How to Paint a Laptop Cover
- 1). Gently clean the laptop cover with a rag slightly dampened with a water-based degreasing soap. Don't oversaturate the laptop, or you could damage the computer.
- 2). Rinse the cover twice with a fresh rag dampened with water. Don't leave any cleanser residue, or the acrylic primer may not stick.
- 3). Abrade the laptop cover, or you may not be able to achieve good adhesion. Sand the cover using 100-grit sandpaper until it feels rough to your skin.
- 4). Open the laptop. Meticulously cover each and every portion of the laptop that is to remain unpainted, using masking paper and painter's masking tape. Close the laptop and set it on a canvas drop cloth.
- 5). Coat the laptop cover with a fine layer of acrylic spray primer. Prevent oversaturation, which leads to runs and sagging, by applying in a consistent side-to-side sweeping motion and by keeping the spray tip 8 inches away from the cover. Let the cover dry for 2 hours.
