      Indiana has several parks that offer ATV trails to suit riders of all experience levels. ATV enthusiasts also can find parks to fit their personalities. Some rugged parks lack trail markings while other well-organized locations post multiple signs on every trail. Whether you enjoy riding through the woods, mud or on top of rocky inclines, Indiana likely has a trail for you.

    Badlands Off Road Park

    • Get dirty at Badlands Off Road Park in Attica, where about 800 acres of trails wait for you to roar through. Situated about a half-hour southwest of Lafayette, the park offers a mix of terrain and trails ranging from easy to experienced. The park has a space designated for novice ATVers to practice before heading out to explore more wild terrain. Choose from sand dunes, mud, woods, rock or gravely hills. Riders without ATVs can rent them at Badlands. The park opens at 9 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m. daily, and you must pay a fee to enter. The park also has a shop where you can purchase replacement parts if something on your ATV breaks.

    Redbird State Riding Area

    • Stretching over 1,400 acres of a reclaimed coal mine near Dugger in the southwestern aprt of the state, Redbird State Riding Area features trails maintained by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Pick from three levels of difficulty for trails ranging from easy to most difficult. Further subsections include trails for just motorcycle, motorcycle and ATV and multi-use. Signs at the trail's start alert riders to the level of difficulty and show direction and upcoming changes in terrain such as a steep hill. You can rip through trees, slog through mud or chug up hills from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., five days a week for most of the year. From April through September, the park stays open until 7 p.m., but closes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. From December through March, the park opens only on Saturday and Sunday. Redbird charges a fee for each vehicle that uses the facility.

    Haspin Acres

    • Covering 750 acres near Laurel in east-central Indiana, Haspin Acres is open 365 days each year and offers forested terrain for ATV riders of all skill levels. You can also camp, fish and ride motocross at Haspin Acres. The park hosts races and other events throughout the year. At the main facility, you can grab food from the restaurant that opens on the weekends or shower off the mud from a ride. Trails stay open from dawn to dusk, and riders must wear helmets. Haspin Acres charges a fee to access its facilities. The park doesn't mark its trails. If your ATV gets stuck, park staff will tow you out for a fee. The park has no shop that sells equipment.
