We adults cannot sleep without a pillow. If we go to bed without a pillow beneath our head, it would be hard for us to sleep and when we wake up in the morning we might have pain in the neck. As adults cannot sleep without pillow, parents usually think if they should give their child a pillow or not. Specialists advise parents to give their child pillow when they get two years of age or more. For child below two years it is not recommended to use a pillow as it has some risk of suffocation. Even for child of two years or more it is recommended to use toddler pillows and pillow cases. These are especially designed to give comfort to your child.

Adult pillows are big in size and your child might suffocate while sleeping on adult pillows. Besides, if your child learns climbing and crawling, they could fell down from the bed using pillow as a ladder to climb on the crib.

You should also remember when you give your child a toddler pillow that it does not cause allergy to your child. Non-allergic pillows are available in the market.
