Chatsworth, Georgia, is a small community of about 3,500 people on the edge of the Chattahoochee National Forest and near Georgia's Fort Mountain State Park. Chatsworth is famous for the Chief Van House that was erected by Cherokee Chief James Vann and features distinctive Cherokee carvings and a cantilevered stairway and is regarded as the "Showplace of the Cherokee Nation." Eight miles east of Chatsworth, Fort Mountain State Park is named for an 855-foot long ancient stone wall that runs along the summit of the mountain. The park has 15 rental cottages, two of which allow dogs for an extra charge. The cottages are homey and come in one, two and three bedrooms. The cabins have all the necessary appliances and amenities such as bed linens, blankets and towels and cooking and dining utensils. They are air conditioned and heated and many have TV sets, wood burning fireplaces, decks or porches. Mountain bikers will appreciate Mulberry Gap Mountain Bike Get-A-Way the Chattahoochee National Forest, about 18 miles east of Chatsworth and 12 miles from Ellijay. A "ride-in-ride-out" venue, Mulberry gap is for serious mountain bikers. There are several cabins with showers and hot tubs, evening campfires, wireless Internet and home cooked meals. Staff can advise bikers on trails and area features. Rates are $75 to $85 a night for adults and $35 to $55 for children, dependent on their age. The True Heaven Cabins are another exclusive site with two distinctive cabins with hot tubs, plasma screen TVs, a game room, wireless Internet and a surround-sound system. The cabins rent for $169 to $199 a night except on holidays when the rate is $240. There is a weekly rate of $1150 and a monthly rate of $3,950.
