History

SMC Networks was founded by Paul Richman, an engineering graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), in 1971. SMC began as a manufacturer of calculator microchips headquartered in New York with a manufacturing plant in California.

Products

SMC is a manufacturer of a variety of computer networking products. Included in SMC's line of products are LAN switches, hubs, routers, modems and software for Ethernet hubs and Token Ring adapters.

Global

Although based in the U.S., SMC has a presence across the Americas, the Asia-Pacific, Europe, Africa and in Japan. Funding Universe reports SMC has regional offices in Germany, France, Canada, Australia, Singapore and the U.K.
