After you have discovered the best pair of earrings you have ever laid eyes on, it's akin to winning the lottery.
Such a rush! However, skip a head about six months to a year and will you still be wearing it? If you want the answer to be yes, you need to be able to take care of your trendy jewelry.
Even though it may not seem like it, your jewelry accumulates grime over time and the shine turns dull.
Silver trendy jewelry needs to be taken care of or you won't have much luck looking classy wearing it for a night out or even to work.
To keep your trendy earrings and necklaces in top condition, a little maintenance is required.
Just one more thing to worry about, right? Well, the process is pretty quick and doesn't have to be done everyday.
Plus, how you store your silver jewelry also impacts how often you have to bring back its shine.
  1. To make sure your silver jewelry doesn't stain and always looks its best, do not place your silver trendy jewelry on or hanging from a wooden surface.
The acids present in the wood will quickly tarnish your jewelry, and oak is the worst offender in this category.
  2. In order to minimize outer conditions, store your silver jewelry in a cool, dry and dark place.
Sunlight can lead to tarnish, as can moisture in the air and long periods of heat.
This doesn't mean you shouldn't wear your jewelry.
Just take care when storing it -- that way it will still look fantastic when you take it out for a special occasion.
  3. If the clasp isn't closing right or a link in the chain is bent or broken, take your pieces to a professional jeweler.
Trying to fix jewelry on your own with a pair of pliers and a make-shift clasp may seem cheaper, but if you break your favorite necklace, the money savings won't have been worth it.
  4. To clean your silver trendy jewelry, mix a small amount of mild liquid soap with a 1/2 cup of warm water.
Scrub lightly if needed then rinse well with clean water.
Allow it to dry completely before storing.
You can also buy silver cleaning solutions that you can submerge your jewelry in for a few minutes before rinsing with water.
  5. There are special polishing cloths available that can bring the shine back to your jewelry.
Polish cloths are perfect for a small amount of tarnish or to bring back the shine to your silver.
