Soon after your engagement, it is time to set the date for your wedding. During this time, book venues for your wedding ceremony and reception, as many sought-after venues fill up a year in advance. Because many factors depend on the venue's character and space, you will be able to make decisions more clearly with it out of the way. Select an officiant, decide on a guest list and send out your Save the Date cards. If you want a wedding planner, hire one now so that you can work together throughout the wedding's process. Book your florist, caterer, photographer and musicians. Ask your venue's manager if she prefers to work with any particular companies, as her recommendation will come from repeated experience. Select your wedding party attendants and pick out their attire. Select your own gown, your fiance's attire and order your invitations. Take the time to set up a wedding registry, keeping in mind what you and your fiance are lacking. Hold a gown fitting day for yourself and your attendants. This is also the time when you and your fiance will pick out your wedding rings, so don't forget to allot time for possible fittings. Choose your wedding jewelry and your bridal veil and select gifts for both sets of parents and your wedding party. Mail out your wedding invitations and point out good accommodations for out-of-town guests. Arrange transportation for you and your wedding party on the wedding day. Order wedding favors for your confirmed guests and draw up a seating plan for your reception. Confirm all of your bookings, including your vendors, officiant, wedding planner and transportation. Create a wedding day itinerary and give a copy to everyone involved in your day's proceedings. Arrange your wedding rehearsal, usually held the day before the wedding. Delegate jobs for the wedding day to your attendants. Lastly, pack for your honeymoon and make sure that the honor attendants have your wedding rings.
