    How to Create an LLC in South Carolina

    • 1). Select a name for you limited liability company. Your LLC's name must contain the ending "limited company" or "limited liability company" or the abbreviation "LLC," "LC," "L.L.C." or "L.C." You can also use the abbreviations "Ltd." and "Co."

    • 2). Select an "initial agent for service of process" for your LLC. This individual's name and contact information will be necessary when completing the Articles of Organization Form.

    • 3). Complete two copies of South Carolina's "Articles of Organization" for you new LLC. It must include your new company (LLC) name, the address of the LLC, and the mailing address of the initial agent for service of process. At least one person must sign the form. You can find the form at www.scsos.com/forms/LLC/Domestic/ArticlesofOrganization.pdf.

    • 4). Send both copies of your Articles of Organization, a check made payable to "South Carolina Secretary of State" in the amount of $110.00 and a self-addressed stamped envelope to the following address:
