Let's discuss some useful tips to socialize a new dog with the existing animals in the house, with your other's pets and your friends - 1.
Socializing with Existing Pets: In order to make the existing animals comfortable with the new dog, you should make them meet somewhere outside your home.
Take the existing animals on a walk and ask a friend to bring the new dog there.
Then, take both sets of animals for a walk together and let them get familiar with each other.
After the walk, take them back to your home and give all the animals a tour of the house.
Make sure they are still on a leash.
Now, take the existing animals' leash off but don't lose the new dog free.
If the new dogs try to put his mark on the house, then you should say "No" in an authoritative voice and jerk his leash.
You must tell every animal in the house that this kind of behavior will not be tolerated.
Also, for some time feed the existing animals before you feed the new dog, but remain near while feeding him also.
If your existing pets are socialized then they will not create any problems for the new dog.
They will actually play with the new dog if he is friendly to them.
But you must introduce the new dog to them in described manner, to make this happen.
If the new dog is not friendly and creates problems in the house, then you will have to train him properly and sternly.
If you can't then it is advisable that you return the dog.

Socializing with Other People's Animals: The same rules apply while dealing with other people's animals also.
You can take long walks with your dog along with your friend and his of dog.
While walking you must try to restrain your dog from barking and jumping on the other animals.
You should make him sit at one place if he doesn't obey.
You can allow your dog to sniff the other dogs and vice verse as it is the dogs' way of saying hello.
You can also invite your friend and his animal to your house after the walk.
You can let your dog play with your friend's dog.
This way your dog will feel much relaxed and you will be able to solve many problems which were troubling you regarding your dog.

Socializing with Your Friends: Adult dogs are not like little puppies that generate warm feelings in people's mind.
Therefore, you must make sure that your dog is nice and well behaved in front of your friends and neighbors from the very beginning.
This becomes even more important if there are other pets in the house also.
Therefore, you must stall establishing the rules with the new dog as soon as he arrives in the house.
Do not let the dog jump on people and keep him on the leash whenever you have friends and other guests at home.
You must do this exercise for the first few weeks of the dog's arrival.
You must also teach him to stay calm when someone rings the door bell and not to run out of the door when it is opened.
When the guests arrive, make the dog sit at one place near you and ask all of your guests to not to give him any attention until all the guests have settled in.
After this, you should let the dog go to the guest and let him evaluate every one around him.
But this practice should not be done until you have full control over the dog.
Otherwise, he can create an awkward scene.
Ensure that your dog greets all the guests by standing on all four feet.
Don't let him evaluate your guest by poking them with his paws or nose.
Be firm with your dog in this matter and don't encourage him by letting him poke some guests at first.
Stop him as soon as he starts doing it.
This will teach your dog to behave properly and your guest will also welcome him to their group.
