Porcelain Veneers and Cosmetic Bonding – For Your Best Look!

If you feel your teeth and smile are not attractive to you or anyone else, porcelain veneers may be just the answer for you!  Modern cosmetic dentistry practice has proven that porcelain veneers can solve most if not all of your cosmetic dental needs, and are often the treatment of choice for many of these needs:  excessive chipping, wear and tear, cracking, spacing issues, and discoloration.  Your call to your dentist should be your first step in consulting with experienced dentists to see if you could be a candidate for this win-win solution – your brighter and more shapely smile!

What do we do that leads us to these dental problems?  Some of what goes on in our mouths is preventable, to be sure.  We can consult our dentist to help with problems like teeth grinding and uneven teeth, and we can certainly wear mouth guards if in contact sports, and take care that we protect our teeth from cracking or chipping by practicing good oral safety and not biting down on food that can lead to cracking or chipping.  Other problems are not preventable, and accidents do happen.  For one, we cannot escape our genetics in the spacing of our teeth, and the fact that widening does happen with aging. If a whiter smile or shapely teeth is your goal, or you want to protect damaged teeth surfaces with a durable solution which saves you from more extensive treatments, porcelain veneers are an excellent choice.

If you wish to restore chipped or broken teeth, fill in gaps, or re-color your teeth, another great choice is cosmetic bonding.  Cosmetic bonding uses a composite resin that is used for various structural as well as cosmetic purposes.  Cosmetic bonding is also relatively inexpensive, effective and very minimally invasive, and often the first choice for more minor chips and cracks and less severe teeth discolorations. It can also be used in the back teeth as well as the front, or facing, teeth.  It can also be used for gum recession or tooth decay.  Smokers may not find this the best solution for cosmetic purposes, however, as the composite resin, unlike porcelain, is porous, and may yellow over time with smoking.
