I discovered SCORE when I first began exploring entrepreneurship.
I was fortunate to be paired with a retired businessman who listened, asked clarifying questions, and helped me go from a broad idea to a concise, implementable plan.
He and the SCORE team, in cooperation with the Kutztown University Small Business Development Center, taught me to · clarify a business concept · find information on industry profiles and trends, customer demographics, target markets, and the competition · create a niche · identify services best suited to that niche · set prices according to value and benefits · choose marketing methods and tools that convey benefits to prospects and customers · make financial projections · determine risk · use best accounting practices · secure capital by being credit worthy · make tools and technology part of doing business · set SMART goals that are specific, measurable, action-oriented, realistic, and time-sensitive With this assistance, I created and implemented a business plan that was easy to follow.
Although several years have passed and I have expanded my business, the plan is still useful.
