Colon Cleanse with Fiber

The intestinal wall contains more than four million microvilli. It's job is to absorb nutrients. Due to the enormous number of microvilli, the total effective area for absorption into the colon is more than 2,200 square feet. Fiber cleans each square foot because dirt begins to accumulate. Most people have a dirty colon due to lack of dietary fiber.

On average people have between 7 and 10 pounds of compacted fecal matter stuck to the wall of the colon preventing proper digestion, creating an environment for parasites and weaken resistance to diseases of the colon. North America has one of the highest rates of colon cancer in the world. This is due to three main factors: meat, refined flour products and dairy products. Eat refined wheat products, fiber-free dairy products creates excess mucus in the intestine. The Journal of the National Cancer Institute reported that high intake of meat is directly linked to high rate of colon cancer, because meat and animal products contain no fiber.

Fiber is the broom of the intestine. Without fiber, saturated fat will clog the intestine. Dairy products, poultry, eggs, fish and other meats also lack fiber, which causes slow digestion, constipation and putrefaction. These decaying debris become a perfect breeding ground for microorganisms that excrete carcinogenic chemicals. Without fiber, the carcinogens are absorbed through the intestinal wall, causing cancer of the colon.

Types of Fiber

There are two types of fiber, soluble and insoluble.

Soluble fiber dissolves in water. In the blood, fiber helps lower cholesterol by binding to low density lipoprotein. Water-soluble fiber can be found in apples, oranges, oat bran and beans. Insoluble fiber is a substance that can not be digested or absorbed by the intestine. This category includes pectin, cellulose, hemicellulose and gums. Insoluble fiber is found in plant foods like fruits, vegetables, nuts and whole grains. Some studies have found that a diet high in fiber, directly reduces the development of diverticulosis, a disease that causes weakening of the bowel wall due to pressure from hard feces in it. The disease affects 30 million Americans. The American Journal of Digestive Disorders reported that 85% of victims of diverticulosis successfully improved after treatment that included a diet high in fiber. Fiber cleanse the mucus in the intestinal tract and lowers cholesterol and reduces the time transit of food through the intestine. Animal products contain no fiber passes through the intestine slowly. The fiber in vegetables slows digestion and neutralizes some of the toxins in the gut.

Although fiber is important for a healthy diet and a clean colon, during fasting, fiber will slow down the fasting process. It requires the digestive system work harder. If you eat five pounds of raw carrots instead of drinking the juice, your body will need to extract nutrients to move the fiber by peristalsis (bowel movement). Resting the digestive system during fasting is essential to the process. For this reason,  juice fasts are more effective because the intestine is empty of fiber.
