Article Marketing - How to Write Great Headlines
Headline strategies proven to work.
1) Use keywords at the beginning of your headlines Consider where your readers are searching for articles that are relevant to them.
More than likely they're going to be using one of the major search engines such as Google, Live Search, or Yahoo.
By using relevant keywords at the beginning of your headlines, you are reflecting the request that your target audience just put into the search engine box.
This technique makes it much more likely that people will check out your articles.
2) Appeal to the reader's self interest What's in it for them? What benefit are they going to get by actually taking the time to read what's below the headline? Most people today just scan headlines because of the amount of information overload in today's society.
You're probably one of those people, so to try to figure out what makes you stop in your tracks.
What kind of headline makes you stop and actually read an article or blog post? Usually it's something that speaks to you regarding one of your personal needs.
It's even better when that headline offers up to solve a problem you have or make your life easier.
3) Use "How", "Why" and numbers "How" and "how to" are powerful words to use inside of a headline.
By using these words you are basically conveying to the reader that you are offering to show them something that they may not have known about.
Everybody wants to know how to do stuff, as long as it's about something they're in to.
We all want to be better, smarter people right? "Why" goes hand-in-hand with "how".
Usually an audience wants know the "how and why" of any particular subject.
"Why" is a powerful word to use inside of a headline because it conveys meaning to the reader.
If you use the word "why" when asking a question, make sure you use a question that the readers themselves would be asking.
Like if they were looking in the mirror and asking themselves the question and then they see it in your headline.
For example, "Why is article marketing such a great tool for me".
Using numbers allows you to clearly define the scope of your article.
For instance, in this article I don't use the number 3 in the headline, but if I were using it, I would write something like "3 ways to write great headlines".
That lets the reader know exactly that there are 3 helpful ways defined inside of my article.
Once you're done with reading those three ways, then that's 3 more helpful tips that you've accumulated in your arsenal of internet marketing weapons.
It clearly defines a sequence and entices the reader to finish that number sequence in order to get the full benefit of the article.
