How to Draw a Quinceanera Dress

    Drawing the Basic Shape

    • 1). Turn the paper so that it is portrait-style (the longest sides are to your left and right). Using the ruler and pencil, lightly sketch an upside-down triangle with three, 2-inch sides about 1.5-inches from the top-center of the paper.

    • 2). Lightly sketch a heart shape from the previously-drawn triangle. Simply draw two, equal one-half inch tall semicircular humps on top of the triangle and slightly round out all of the edges. This is the top of the dress.

    • 3). Draw a second triangle, right-side up, with three, 6-inch sides directly below the heart you have just created. The top of the triangle and the bottom of the heart should be touching.

    • 4). Draw two slightly curved lines, one on the left side and the other on the right side, connecting the heart and the triangle. These lines should both be two inches long. One should begin at the middle of the right side of the heart and end at just above the middle of the right side of the triangle. The other should begin at the middle of the left side of the heart and end at just above the middle of the left side of the triangle. You should see the outline of the contours of the dress.

    • 5). Erase all of the lines inside of the dress outline (this will include the bottom of the heart and the top of the triangle). Now you should only see the complete dress outline.

    Adding Details

    • 1). Add ruffles and folds to the dress. Do this by drawing several vertical lines spaced randomly inside of the bottom portion of the dress. Erase the very bottom, horizontal line of the dress and replace it with a curving line of the same length. The line should have many curves like a river or a wriggly snake. Connect all of the vertical line to this lower line. Now the dress appears to have ruffles.

    • 2). Decorate the top of the dress as you desire. You can draw a lace pattern on the front of the dress or draw several very small circle and dots to represent jewels on the dress. You can even draw straps at the top if you don't want a strapless gown.

    • 3). Trace the entire dress over with the darker 4B pencil, erasing any mistakes or making any changes.

    • 4). Retrace the entire picture over with the fine-tip marker to finalize your drawing.
