The high cost of groceries is causing allot of concern in the United States:

Groceries being one of the most consumable products in the world are beginning to put a tighter squeeze on the families in the United States and the global community. The high prices of groceries and the high unemployment rate are making it very difficult for some families put food on the table. According to a survey done as of June of 2011, wheat, beef, pork, sugar and coffee is approaching 6% inflation.

The increase in the price of groceries may fluctuate slightly from different studies that I looked at, but the fact that food prices are rising and American's income are not is a legitimate concern. Almost every day you will hear something negative about the prices of groceries, the prices of gasoline and the state of our weak economy. Most people are afraid to frequent the groceries stores because of the high prices.

These high prices are going nothing but up every week and there is no end in sight. With eight surveys done in the last two years and a half, most adults reported that they are paying more for groceries. Seventy-one percent (71%) of adults surveyed nationwide stated that they will be paying more for groceries a year from now.

Consumable product prices in June rose by 2.9 per cent compared with a year ago (2010), with grocery prices rising by 5.7 per cent, according to the British Retail Consortium.

As the global food price index reveals, costs for a variety of commodities from meat to sugar have been increasing steadily since 2010.

With inflation at its highest rate for more than two and a half years, the group that is hit the hardest is the poor and the lower middle class who is squeezed by the high prices of groceries and gasoline.

Ways to save money on groceries: using a free groceries program

Most people are now shopping for groceries at the big discount box grocery stores in attempt to put food on the table within the their family budget. These stores offer you name brand groceries at discounted prices in comparison to your local grocery store. Also, many people are using coupons and store rewards program to minimize the pain of the cash registers. You may not be able to get free groceries, but there are groceries stores with referral programs that you can earn a 5% cash credit incentive when you refer a customer or have a customer shop through your website. Five (5%) may not sound like much but when you consider that the American families are spending anywhere from $700 to $1,000 a month on groceries, $35 to $50 a month can add up over time. There is a home grocery delivery company out of Pensacola, Florida who has the 5% cash back program.

They also created a program last year that you could get free groceries by making a one-time purchase and meeting a couple of requirements. This is not a gimmick or a get rich quick scheme because you will have to put in some time and effort to earn free groceries with free shipping as an option.
