Wedding Planning - Is God On Your Guest List?

Weddings are joyful times.
There is a ceremony, the reception, a meal perhaps, and the honeymoon.
Many preparations are required to make this day the grand start to a wonderful marriage.
The checklist takes time and energy.
But what really makes a marriage work? Often times, couples get so involved with the wedding day that they can forget what it takes to make a marriage last.
In all the hustle of preparations, where the service is held, and who is officiating can become secondary to things like what date the reception hall is available.
Consider who is performing the ceremony and what kind of help they can provide after the wedding day.
Pastors are often called to perform weddings.
Many pastors who perform these services see this as an entry point into the church.
They want to see your marriage flourish and perhaps be invited to your 50th anniversary.
Pastors often require a few counseling sessions to ask questions that maybe you never thought about.
They also offer themselves for counsel after the wedding day, to celebrate the joy in your lives and to help with the bumps along the way.
In the gospel of John, chapter 2, Jesus is invited to a wedding.
In the midst of the celebration, they run out of wine.
Jesus has the servants fill some jars with water and he turns the water into wine.
And not just any wine - the master of the ceremony says, "This is the BEST wine.
" When you invite God into your wedding, He doesn't want you to have just a nice wedding, God wants you to have the BEST.
The couple in John 2 invited Jesus to their wedding so the party can go on and on.
Jesus changes the water to wine so the party can continue.
Likewise, Jesus wants to come to your wedding also so you can be truly blessed.
Jesus says, "I have come that you would have life, and have it more abundantly!" Jesus wants our lives to be the BEST and abundant.
When we turn and invite Jesus into our marriage, there comes a calm assurance and a real joy that no one can take away.
Marriage is more than bread and water, marriage is more miracles along the way.
So as you prepare for your wedding day, or any day over the next 50 + years, remember a very important part - remember to invite God into your service and into your life.
Get to know the pastor or priest so you can develop a relationship that will celebrate the fun times, and help you through the bumps along the way.
May your wedding day and everyday be filled with the presence of God and filled with joy.
May your marriage grow with riches and blessings, and be the BEST.
May you know Jesus and have ABUNDANT life.
