How to Update Java in Ubuntu 9.10
- 1). Select "Software Sources" from the "Administration" section of the "System" menu.
- 2). Check the box next to "Software Restricted By Copyright Or Legal Issues (Multiverse)" if it is not already checked. Click "Close" and then "Reload."
- 3). Select "Terminal" from the "Accessories" section of the "Applications" menu.
- 4). Type "sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jre sun-java6-plugin sun-java6-fonts" and press "Enter." This downloads and installs the latest Java runtime environment, browser plugin and required fonts.
- 5). Press "Enter." Select "OK" and "Yes."
