How to Decorate a Tribal Rainstick

1). Paint the rainstick with acrylic paint to give it a uniform background. Choose a light color so that any pattern details will stand out.
2). Using colors that contrast with your background color, start to apply the patterns. For instance, paint alternate colors of zigzag stripes around the bottom of the rainstick, then repeat the zigzag pattern around the top, leaving the central part patternless. If you'd like patterns in the central portion too, add simple flower shapes, or use animal or plant stickers.
3). Tie colorful craft feathers to embroidery floss, then tie the floss around the top and bottom ends of the rainstick. Secure the embroidery floss and the feathers with a dab of hot glue from a heat gun.
