An Interview With Hon Samuel S. Ejiwunmi On The Aluu Incident
Slucker: Can You Kindly Tell Us About Yourself?
Hon Samuel: My name is Samuel S. Ejiwunmi, I'm a student of Mass Communication, University of Lagos, with specialization in Public relations and Advertisement , I'm also a public commentator on issues that affect humanity both locally and internationally.
lucker: We have heard various version of the story on the UNIPORT Student murder,I will like to know if there is any truth in them. We need to know exactly what happened?
Hon Samuel: I believe by now you have heard more than five accounts of the story, however there is no clear cut version that has been verified, the importance however is not on what transpired before the incidence but the action of the people of Aluu community.
Slucker: As a representative of this Campaign against the UNIPORT student murder, what are the mandates you want the government to meet?
Hon Samuel: Our demands are simple, "Let Justice prevail", Bring everyone that is supposed to be accountable to book, we are living in a system of government, therefore there should be respect for the rule of law and constitutionalism, no one should be able to slap the law in the face in such manner and walk away Scott free. We are saying that the government should step into action as soon as possible so that the people can still have trust in them, else people will seek an alternate means to justice and believe me, that's the beginning of anarchy.
Slucker: What ways and medium would you like for the Nigerian youths to encourage and support your movement?
Hon Samuel: The new form of protest is no longer just physical, The Arab spring was physical, but the Egypt protest succeeded via the social platform and internet, we want Nigerian youths to continue to use the social platform and internet to raise awareness and sensitize the international community to the plight of Nigerians, there are a lot of things going on in this country that no one is talking about and that no one will talk about if we don't talk about it. so it is high time that we took the bull by the horn and use the internet and social media and our blackberry phones to request for accountability from the government.
Slucker: How can we prevent this type of issue from happening again?
Hon Samuel: The only way we can prevent this from happening again is by ensuring that the Aluu killing is not swept under the carpet, when heads roll over this, others will take caution in the future when the idea of taking justice into their hands come into their minds, except we do that, then we are merely sitting on a time bomb and waiting just another disaster to happen, and next time might be far worse from what we have just seen.
Slucker: Thank you very much for your time
Hon Samuel: Thank you too and You are welcome
