The Big Kahuna

Dorothy, in order to find her way home decided to take a mythical journey through all the obstacles that were placed in her way.
She was told follow the Yellow Brick Road which will lead you to the promise land.
Going on the assumption that when she reached her destination everything would turn out alright.
For she had heard that he will make everything alright.
"Everything's got a moral, if you can only find it.
"-Lewis Carroll 1832-1898 In all the Newspaper articles put forward by academics and those in the know answering the question about why anyone will cross the Mexican border while risking their life to get to America, the answer always seems to be to get a better job.
Occasionally someone will sprinkle in the alternate of " to get a better future for our children".
American always seem to think that human needs can be classified as either lower needs (physiological) or higher needs (self-actualization) which are not sufficient to describe the human dynamics.
Humans by nature use deception and deceit to great length.
This is the wild card in human activity.
Economists see things from an incentive point of view.
This is also a little naive.
In playing the ultimate game of power, being the Big Kahuna is never taken into account.
The "I want what he has syndrome".
Having been raised with what can only be described as "one foot firmly on American soil and with a slight interest in learning my culture"mentality I was lucky to experience the great allure of America.
For America is the answer to an old age mystery.
The mysterious answer is the same that compelled hordes for people towards California in 1849, and made countless explorers risk their lives searching for gold in Peru.
This mystery I first observed on my first visit back to the Old Country after spending ten years in America.
My first impression was that living in America does really make you different.
My immediate family members where curious about this great country called America and all the riches it offered.
Like the Wizard from "The Wizard of OZ" I found myself exaggerating about all I had in America, and all the riches it offered.
This was cemented by the fact that my parents brought land and drove around in new cars.
The envy in people's eye was evident.
The truth of the matter was that my father worked as a Taxi driver and my mother worked in the garment district in NYC.
There was no physical difference between us but I spoke a foreign language(English or on a more technical term-Spanglish) and the Natives thought I was a little clumsy and weak( carrying water for a quarter mile gave me callouses and they had to stop more than once to allow the little American raised softy a break).
My parents love the Old Country and the way of life( If carrying water from the local river , sleeping with mosquito nets and the electricity going shutting down can ever be missed).
This great mystery that makes people risk their lives crossing the Mexican border, get on a boat and cross treacherous waters in the Caribbean is Envy.
The easiest way you can be a Big Kahuna in almost any country is to come to America and then go back home to visit and showoff like a Peacock.
Envy is the great mystery.
It is also the reason America is hated.
