Good Earth Ginseng Green Tea

You may recognize Good Earth Ginseng Green Tea from the shelves of your local health food store. It's probably not something you'd drink just for the flavor, but it tastes better than most ginseng blends out there. If you're looking for an inexpensive, palatable ginseng green tea, I recommend you try this one.

General Information

Good Earth Ginseng Green Tea iss a blend of green tea, eleuthero leaves, natural flavors (including soy lecithin), panax ginseng leaves, lemongrass, rose petals, panax ginseng root and orange oil.

Panax ginseng is also known as Chinese ginseng, Korean ginseng or Asian ginseng.

According to its packaging, each eight-ounce serving contains 18 grams of caffeine.

Although the brewing instructions call for "boiling water," I used water at 200º F, which I find to be better suited for green tea blends than a full (212º) boil.

Appearance & Aroma

Good Earth Ginseng Green Tea brews into a hazy, orange-green color. Its aroma is citrusy and floral, and is not nearly as medicinal or herbaceous as I thought it would be. Overall, it's a pleasant aroma.

Flavor & Aftertaste, Hot & Iced

The flavor of hot Ginseng Green Tea is mellow, sweet and tart, but a little bit "fake," like Tang.

The aftertaste is better than that of most ginseng blends. It's a balance of lemongrass and ginseng.

When iced, Ginseng Green Tea is very refreshing. It tastes more herbaceous and tart (a flavor profile I prefer). It's good on its own or with honey.

Overall Opinion

If you want to drink a ginseng blend for any of ginseng's health benefits, then this tea is a good choice.

However, if you're just looking for a tasty, tea, try something else.
