Zimmer Children's Museum

• Located in The Goldsmith Jewish Federation Center, the Zimmer Children's Museum features programs and activities to help children and families learn about community and global responsibility. Children can fly the discovery airplane simulator to view far off lands, stand at a replica of the Western Wall in Jerusalem and the water table informs children about the importance of water conservation. Ideally the museum is geared toward children 3 to 12 years old, but kids of all ages are welcome. The museum is closed on Monday and Saturday as well as many Jewish and national holidays.

California Science Center

• The California Science Center is located next to L.A.'s Exposition Park. The center is an interactive place with the goal of stimulating an interest in science in the lives of children. Exhibits cover the environment, Earth and space. At the Science Court, kids can ride a high wire bicycle and climb a cliff. There is an Imax movie theater on site. Admission to the exhibit galleries is free. Kids of all ages will find the California Science Center to be fun and educational; Imax movies are suitable for everyone. The center is open seven days a week, but it's closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

Adventureplex

• Just southwest of L.A. in nearby Mahattan Beach, Adventureplex is a place where parents and children can exercise in a non-competitive, fun-filled environment. Children from six weeks to 18 years old can participate in classes and socialize with other children while building a healthy body under the guidance of a professionally-trained supervisor. Family classes are available. Activities include dancing, martial arts, climbing, games and sports. Adventureplex is open seven days a week.
